- High School DxD
- High School of the Dead
Free is an amazing sports anime that was very impactful in the rise of the Yaoi (Boys Love) genre. It is an anime with plenty of husbandos for fangirls to enjoy and amazingly directed swimming scenes. It still holds its place as one of the most amazingly animated sports anime.
Haruka Nanase is a boy with a passion for swimming. In his elementary school, he competes in a swimming relay race with his three friends Rin Matsuoka, Nagisa Hazuki and Makoto Tachibana and wins. After this, Haruka moves to Australia for a short while, with the dream of participating in the Olympics. Years later, he moves back and is reunited with his friends.
However, Rin shows bitter feelings towards Haruka and wants to prove to him that he is a better swimmer. After the reunion the three friends form the Iwatobi Swimming Club and develop a close bond. They train intensely to come out on top and settle things between Rin and Haruka once and for all.
Free! offers us some amazing animation with water that looks more charming than people in real life. And men so beautiful that they can make the summer feel even hotter.
The anime offers ample ‘Manservice’ and the sport aspect of it that can be very thoroughly enjoyed with a decently good plot.
Although the anime does provide pretty good fanservice, its good point lies in the fact that it doesn’t necessarily get in the way of the plot and not just take over and ruin a fairly decent show.
4. Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon?
Also known as Danmachi, the light novel turned anime gained popularity in Japan and in the west on its release in 2015. It is a good fantasy based anime that is behind the notorious meme “Hestia is Bestia” and became one of the few fantasy based harem shows which actually created hype amongst the fans.
Bell Cranel is naïve young man who hopes to become the greatest adventure around. After meeting the lonely goddess Hestia by chance, Bell’s dream became a little closer to reality. With her help he embarks on a journey as he ventures deep within the city’s catacombs called as “Dungeons”. However, Death lurks around every corner in the cavernous depths of this terrifying labyrinth. Additionally a mysterious power moves amidst the shadows. Even on the surface, survival is a hard-earned privilege. Indeed, nothing is ever certain in a world where gods and humans live and work together. Especially when they often struggle to get along. One thing is for sure: a myriad of blunders, triumphs and friendships await the dauntlessly optimistic protagonist of this herculean tale.
Although Danmachi had a nice plot going for it, the anime does ruin the feel by introducing way too many female characters in the mix.
It is good to have more female characters in a show with tons of fanservice. But it doesn’t exactly appeal that much when the protagonist ‘acquires’ them like catching a Pokemon. The lack of personality in the female characters makes them forgettable. The anime could’ve been better if it just focused on the relation between Belle and Hestia.
Although Danmachi does have its problems, it does offer a decent plot, fairly good world building and a good amount of fanservice.
The title is a play off on the Japanese pronunciation of the word ‘Trouble’. It is a story written by the very famous author Yabuki Kentarou (creator of Black Cat). It is one of the longest running ecchi-harem series from Shounen Jump. Filled with fanservice scenes that can make most look ecchi pale in comparison. It really helped define the genre back when it came out.
The story revolves around a teenage boy called Yuuki Rito who is in love with his classmate of his called Sairenji Haruna. But he finds it difficult to express his feelings as he has absolutely no experience with women. Then one night, while he is relaxing in the bathtub, a naked young girl pops up out of nowhere. Rito later discovers that she is Princess Lala who is an alien. After a small incident and a bunch of misunderstandings, Rito “saves” Lala.
The very the next day, Rito musters up courage and expresses his feelings for Haruna to later find out that Lala is now standing in the place that Haruna was. Lala mistakes Rito’s confession to Haruna as a confession to her and she falls in love with Rito, stating that she wants to marry him. Now Rito is the first in line to become Lala’s groom, i.e. the king of the universe. However, many aliens have layed eyes on Rito and will do anything in their path to stop the marriage. Rito is now subject to a complicated love triangle and must survive from the threats from space.
To-Love-Ru focuses more on episodic comedy sequences so it does lack plot due to not exactly being faithful to the source material. Although it easily makes up for it with the fanservice it provides.
To-Love-ru is a very good ecchi series due to the anime having very explicit and risqué fanservice. It has little to no censorship, thus keeping us properly entertained.
It is definitely an amazing anime filled with unique characters and hilarious moments. Lala is easily one of the best waifus to ever come out of an ecchi series.
2. High School DxD
I don’t think this anime needs any sort of introduction. It’s the anime that blessed us with the utmost quality of fanservice and boob physics that only a few can rival. It’s the anime that turns a boy into a man and a man into a man of culture.
High School DxD revolves around a high school boy Issei Hyodo, who loves one thing more than anybody else in the world; women. He spends his days chasing around girls and trying to get laid. Until one day he is invited on a date by a girl called Yuma Amano. At the end of the date, Issei is shocked when Yuma asks, “If he could die for her”. Yuma turns out to be a Fallen Angel, who attacks and kills Issei.
He then finds himself back in his room, thinking that it was all a dream, but instead finds a third-year upperclassman called Rias Gremory naked in his room. Rias explains that she has brought Issei back from the dead and resurrected as a devil to her Gremory Devil Family. Issei now joins the Occult Research Club led by her with members including other people who she has revived as members of her Family. Issei must now get accustomed to this new life of fighting devils and fallen angels for the hardships and hilarious adventures to come.
This is one of the few echhi shows that genuinely have a progressing plot and character development.
The show does start off as comedic with dark moments here and there but as the plot progresses it does also dive into the action genre and also give a battle shounen vibe mixed in with amazing boob physics.
Overall this anime can easily serve as an amazing gateway for an anime fan who wants to take a dive in the ecchi genre.
1. High School of the Dead
Not exactly the first thing that pops up in our mind when we think of an anime with a post apocalyptic scenario. But definitely one of the first things that pops up when we think of fanservice. The anime gave us tremendous amount of fanservice with hot girls killing zombies.
Highschool of the Dead is set in the present day. Beginning as a deadly pandemic, which turns humans into zombies, has struck the world. As these monsters begin terrorizing a high school, Takashi Kimuro is forced to kill his best friend when he gets bitten and joins the ranks of the walking dead. Vowing to protect Rei Miyamoto, the girlfriend of the man he just executed, they narrowly escape their death trap of a school.
Sadly, they’re greeted by a society that has already fallen. Soon, Takashi and Rei band together with other students on a journey to find their family members and uncover what caused this overwhelming pandemic. Joining them are Saeko Busujima, the beautiful president of the Kendo Club; Kouta Hirano, an otaku with a fetish for firearms; Saya Takagi, the daughter of an influential politician; and Shizuka Marikawa, their hot school nurse. With the combined force of this group they have one objective in their minds: Survive
The Studio did an amazing job in animating the series. But, the show faces the same flaws of the plot being riddled by needless fanservice. The anime gave us unnecessary fanservice and camera angles at the grim or serious moments making it hard to focus on the story.
The anime did have a bit going for itself with amazingly animated action scenes and even more amazingly animated breasts but the story did lack some material.
On an overall scale it is a good enjoyable anime if you’re looking for an ecchi. But it didn’t accomplish much in the overall story.
